Remote Sightseeing
“Why bother seeing the world for real?” This is the tagline of my latest Internet find, Google Sightseeing. If you fancy viewing all manners of terrestrial oddities, but real (unless it’s a vision distortion giving rise to optical illusion), this is the site for you. It has a daily log of satellite pictures complete with brief descriptions for us to marvel at earthly grandeur. In addition, the site has archived the various entries under category and locality. My favorite, thus far, is the case of a car in apparent levitation.
While the name Google is used in the name of the web site, it is not sponsored nor affiliated with Google. But the site uses the freely downloadable Google Earth and Google Map. I can’t wait to be pleasantly surprised everyday from now on.
